Inauguration of the ANDES association

On 28 April last year, Mr Michel Barnier, Minister of Agriculture and Fishery, and Mrs Christine Boutin, Minister of Housing, Urban Affairs and the fight against social exclusion, inaugurated the ANDES (national association for the development of social grocery stores) integration site, with many media present. The site is in the Warehouse area of Rungis Market and opened on 14 April 2008. The Ministers were received by Mr Jérôme Bonaldi, President of the association and Mr Guillaume Bapst, national delegate of the association, accompanied by several personalities like Mr Didier Montchamp, under-Prefect of Hay-les-Roses, Mr Marc Spielrein, President of Rungis International Market, Mr Georges Pasqui, Director of Rungis Market, various managers from the ANDES association and the fruit and vegetables sector and various company heads and managers from Rungis Market.
The goal of the integration site (14 people for collection, sorting and repackaging) is to supply 5 tons of fruit and vegetables a day, unsold on Rungis Market, to all the networks in charge of food aid in Ile-de-France (Ile-de-France food bank, Restos du Cœur, Secours Populaire, Red Cross, social groceries in France members of ANDES). Backed by Semmaris (Rungis Market), the site’s activity meets a threefold objective: food aid support, work integration, recycling consumable surplus. “We are in the midst of an intelligent, positive project and this site provides a real service,” said Mr Michel Barnier. Mrs Christine Boutin said: “This is better than state aids and this win-win concept assists integration and helps prevent waste.” Guillaume Bapst in turn announced several projects in the West and South-East of France.
