The national food industry conference at Rungis
The national food industry conference (Assises Nationales de l’Agroalimentaire) was held at Espace Rungis on 24 March 2009, in the presence of Mr Michel Barnier, French Minister of Agriculture and Fishery and Mr Laurent Wauquiez, secretary of state for employment, as well as many government officials and personalities from the concerned sectors. The theme of the day was “Goals for the food industry and agribusiness” and it began with the feedback from the food industry meetings held all over the country in February and March, by means of three round tables: “competitiveness and reflation”, “diet and nutrition”, “work, employment and attractiveness”. The afternoon theme covered “Innovation and agribusiness”. To conclude the day, Mr Michel Barnier presented a plan to support the food industry sector over several years and announced ten research and development priorities for the food industry.
