On 28 April last, two events took place at the Maison de la Poissonnerie in Rungis. Firstly, the new premises of the CFA Poissonerie were inaugurated and, secondly, the Mérite Maritime medal was awarded to Mr Pierre Jessel (President of France’s confederation of fishmongers, President of the CFA Poissonerie in Rungis, President of the Paris-Ile-de-France fishmongers’ federation, President of the fishmonger and shellfish breeding trade and training scheme, CGPME and CGAD board member).
The new extension of the CFA Poissonnerie includes three new classrooms, a computer room and a canteen. The CFA now has premises adapted to the new requirements of the fishmonger diploma and can introduce the new professional Baccalaureat cycle “fishmonger-fish scaler-caterer in seafood products.” Furthermore, the new canteen serves hot meals to apprentices, trainers and Confederation personnel. This extension of roughly 400 m2 effectively doubles the training centre’s floor space.
In his inaugural speech, Mr Daniel Brunel, Vice-president of the Regional Council of Ile-de-France, pointed out “the exemplary work done by the CFA Poissonnerie of Rungis and its managers, with 100% success and 100% integration (…) and that apprenticeship is a route to excellence that must be encouraged”.
The second event was the award of the Mérite Maritime medal to Mr Pierre Jessel by Mr Georges Pasqui, Director of Rungis Market. In his speech, the latter recalled Mr Jessel’s exemplary career that spoke for itself, citing the service rendered to the profession and young apprentices by this indefatigable, enthusiastic professional.
Deeply honoured by this distinction, Pierre Jessel thanked the personalities, professional and officials present. “In this distinction, I see the recognition of my peers, the trust and devotion of all those who supported me,” he declared.
This dual event ended with a superb seafood buffet to the sound of the traditional West Indian group Nassuco.

Cette double manifestation s’est terminée par un superbe « buffet de la mer » au son du groupe folklorique antillais Nassuco. .
