Rungis stars in the film "Paris"

Rungis Market played an important role in the film “Paris”, written and directed by Cédric Klapisch and released on 20 February 2008. This 90-minute comedy is a cross-portrait of the capital where the stories and fates of several Parisians from different backgrounds and environments intermingle. Among the various characters, there is Jean (Albert Dupontel), market gardener and fruit and vegetable retailer on the Ménilmontant market, his partner Mourad (Zinedine Soualem), his ex-wife Caroline (Julie Ferrier), Elise (Juliette Binoche), Franky (Gilles Lellouche) and Laetitia (Mélanie Laurent).
Numerous scenes in the film take place at Rungis Market where we see the first two come and buy their supplies and where a good part of their life takes place, between work, and relationships with friends and lovers. The different sequences were filmed between 4 and 8 December 2006, indoors in several of the Market’s brasseries, in the meat products pavilion and one of the fruit and vegetable pavilions. In total, Rungis Market features in the film for almost thirty minutes. On 19 March (four weeks after its release), the film totalled 1,600,000 admissions. The film had very wide media coverage in the written press and TV on its release and for a considerable length of time (dont AFP, Figaro Magazine, A Nous Paris, Direct soir, Libération, Marianne, Les Echos, L’Humanité, La République du Centre, Le Dauphiné, L’Echo de la Corrèze, Les Nouvelles de Falaise, Le Parisien, Direct 8, France 2, FR3, LCI, Europe1, France Bleu IdF) which benefited Rungis Market significantly.
