Rungis opens its doors to 1000 children
Following a special feature published in January in Mon Quotidien, a daily newspaper for 8-10 years old kids, in which they were invited to answer a quiz to compete for wining a trip to Rungis, 20 schools from Ile de France will visit the largest wholesale market in the world in May and June.
1000 kids will be visiting the dairy as well as the fruit and vegetables market, discovering the various products in a fascinating environment. Among the highlights, the visit of one of the market’s maturing cheese cellars where the children will learn the conservation and tasting techniques for Comté.
The children will have the opportunity to taste various products and an emphasis will be put on the health benefits from fresh produce consumption.
Last but not least, the children will visit the exhibition which is currently shown at Rungis about the history of Les Halles de Paris and their transfer to Rungis, the evolution of the jobs and transport means etc.
