Horticulturist from father to son, Claude Vion runs four hectares in Faremoutiers, with 19,000m² of greenhouses.
He grows four million bedding plants a year, employs a dozen people and has been training apprentices for 28 years.
«You must pass on your know-how to attract employees » insists Claude Vion, vice-president of APHUMR. He is still passionate about his profession. For love of the land, creativity and diversity, « We have become production industrialists. So we have to be at the cutting edge of new varieties, » he explains.
He runs some trials for seed traders, with one unswerving goal: «To grow beautiful varieties that thrive when customers take them home. »
Claude Vion does 40% of his turnover at Rungis.
